How Installation Works with Fiberglass Inground Pools

Thinking about adding a fiberglass inground pool to your backyard? Great choice! Fiberglass pools are known for their durability, low maintenance, and quick installation time. At Water City Pool & Spa, we make the entire process smooth and stress-free from start to finish. Here’s what you can expect when it comes to installing your new fiberglass pool:

1. Design & Planning

It all starts with a conversation. We’ll meet with you to learn more about your space, budget, and what you’re envisioning for your backyard. Fiberglass pools come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so we’ll help you choose a model that works best for your layout and lifestyle. Once a design is selected, we take care of obtaining any required permits and preparing for the install.

2. Excavation & Base Prep

Once everything is approved, we mark out the pool area and begin excavation. This step involves digging the hole to the exact size and shape needed for your fiberglass shell. After the excavation, we carefully level and prepare a base using gravel or sand to provide a strong, stable foundation for the pool.

3. Pool Shell Delivery & Placement

Here’s where things get exciting! Your fiberglass pool arrives as one solid, pre-formed shell—already smooth and finished. Using specialized equipment, our team carefully lifts and lowers the shell into the prepared space. We make any necessary adjustments to ensure it’s perfectly level and aligned before moving on.

4. Plumbing, Backfilling & Lighting

With the shell in place, we install all necessary plumbing and run lines for filtration, jets, and lighting. As we do this, we backfill around the pool shell with gravel or sand, filling it evenly to avoid shifting or stress. We also pour a concrete bond beam around the top of the pool to lock it into place and support the surrounding deck.

5. Equipment Setup

We connect all the plumbing to your pool pump, filter, and heater (if applicable), and ensure everything is running properly. We’ll walk you through how to operate your system, check water chemistry, and care for your fiberglass surface.

6. Decking & Finishing Touches

Once the pool is secure and functional, it’s time to bring the rest of your backyard vision to life. Whether you’re going with concrete, pavers, or another decking option, we’ll complete the area surrounding your pool and tie it all together with landscaping or accessories if you choose.

7. Fill It Up & Enjoy!

After everything is finished, it’s time to fill the pool with water and start enjoying your new backyard oasis. Fiberglass pools are quick to install—most projects can be completed in just a few weeks, depending on weather and scope.
